What is the difference between C3 and C5 corrosion classes?

Different environments create different corrotion effects. Find out more about corrotion cathegories here.

According to DIN EN ISO 12944-5, there are several classes of corrosion: from C1 (low) to C5M (maritime).

C3 is medium class – it refers in outdoor to city and industrial environments with moderate sulfur dioxide pollution and coastal areas with low salinity. In indoor it refers to production, areas with high humidity and some air pollution (for example, industrial plants, laundries, breweries, food production, etc.)

C5I is very high – it refers in outdoor to industrial areas with high humidity and aggressive environment. In indoor it refers to buildings and areas with almost permanent condensation and with high pollution impact.

C5M is very high – it refers in outdoor to Costal and offshore areas with high salinity. In indoors it refers to buildings and areas with almost permanent condensation and with high pollution impact.
